It’s an unusual recipe because it doesn’t require any ingredients from the frig like milk, butter or eggs. It’s made with water and ingredients from the pantry, including oil, flour and sugar. It’s a good recipe to have during times like a pandemic or a blackout, when you can’t always get everything you want at the grocery store or keep everything you want in the refrigerator. How to Live a Brave Life

The mother of two of my closest friends in high school passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago. As I have thought about her these past few days, I remember three things in particular: her smile, her laugh, and her strength. She was a tough cookie!  They were a Navy family, and one of the ways she showed strength was by holding tightly to her children and marriage as they moved from country to country to country. Now that my own family has moved from country to country to country--and back again--I know what that feels like. It ain't easy. Her daughter, my friend, is a tough cookie, too. This past year, she faced a living nightmare as her youngest girl contracted a life-threatening infection. She was med-evac'ed to a hospital and spent 140 days there--nearly five months. A Book Giveaway!

Giveaway #3 So, awhile back I mentioned that I haven't had much time to read paper-and-ink books lately.   Sad, but true.   I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks at work instead.   Well, I did read one book with a binding lately--a slim, but important volume that I would like to share with you. Here it is: I met and worked with author M. J. Weissenberger in South America.   She was a new missionary who would be teaching English to our children.   I can't even express how blessed I am for what she has meant to them. So, when she announced the publication of her book, Two Heavy Words: Reflections of a First-Year Missionary, I was quick to buy it right away, snatch it from its envelope and devour it.   I paid for it, but reading it was a gift.
